Welcome to PHIL 465: Spring 2011
Personal Identity

What is the essence of a person? What makes me one and the same person throughout my life, despite the fact that I grow and change in fundamental ways? What is required for me to exist at all? These questions raise two quite distinct sets of metaphysical issues concerning personal identity: issues of identity at different times, and issues of identity across different possible worlds. We will consider both kinds of puzzle and explore their ethical ramifications.

NB: Important resources for this class (including additional required readings and quizzes) are available to registered students via Sakai@UD.
