Aims

This seminar will look at systems of healthcare. Students will gain an understanding of the complex ways in which considerations of justice and ethics interact with the practical and political realities of the healthcare industry.

Strategy

Though making use of basic notions from economics (explained in the class text - don't worry, minimal mathematics required), this is primarily a class in applied philosophy. Since the best way to learn philosophy is to do it, you will do best if you come prepared to engage actively in class discussion. In-class learning will be supplemented by on-line quizzes and by developing your own final paper.
