This class will introduce students to a range of important ethical controversies, and a give grounding in the philosophical ethical theories that can help shed light on difficult ethical questions. By the end of the class students will:

  • Be able to take a philosophical approach to ethical questions, understanding the importance of supporting a view with careful reasoning.
  • Be aquainted with some of the most important ethical theories and their application to practical problems.
  • Understand opposing views on a range of current ethical controversies.
